Program Description
Hibbing Community College's Multimedia Specialist Program offers students in Northern Minnesota a quality education in one of the most modern and exciting fields around. Unlike many other media programs, the Multimedia Program at Hibbing Community College offers a fresh approach by combining the latest in computer and media technology with design and artistic training.
Students enrolling in the Multimedia Program will be taught skills in several different areas of media production, with emphasis on practical hands-on experience. These areas include: directing, script writing, video camera techniques, digital video and audio recording, video editing, multimedia programming, website design, print production, and computer-based modeling and animation for Hollywood-style results.
Employment Opportunities
This program prepares students for employment in a range of media careers including: graphic designer, advertising specialist, art director, copywriter, free-lance artist, photographer, video camera operater, video producer, editor, television director, multimedia producer, 3D modeler, 3D animator, special effects engineer, sound engineer, web designer, script writer, sales and marketing.
Graduates from our program have found employment with several local companies, as well as throughout the region including: WDIO and FOX television in Duluth, Minnesota, the Excel Energy Center, and the Smithsonian Institute. Course Outline
The Multimedia Program at Hibbing Community College is a two-year program. Students graduating from the program will earn an A.A.S. degree. This gives the student the option to enter the workforce, or continue on to a 4-year college or university. We currently have an articulation agreement with Bemidji State University, which allows our graduates to transfer into their Design Technology Program at a junior-level status to continue their education and training.
