Online Students and Distance Learning Library Services
Welcome. Distance Learners/Online Students are allowed use of Hibbing Community College's library resources and services without having to come to campus.
Setting Up Necessary Accounts
In order to access subscription databases or request books or articles, you will need to set up certain accounts.
- Your HCC Student Photo ID card is needed to use and access library resources. On your HCC student ID is a barcode. This barcode serves as your library card. you will need it to request, check out, or interlibrary loan books and articles. To receive an HCC student ID, contact HCC Student Services. A HCC Student ID is issued upon completion of registration. The HCC student ID is then mailed to your permanent address. If you need access to the online resources and do not have a HCC Student ID, please contact the librarian, Tina Trullinger, at 218-262-6747.

How to Access Databases
HCC proxy service - In cooperation with the Library, MnSCU/PALS has developed a service that allows students who are off-campus to retain access to Library subscription data-bases and other resources that are normally only available to on-campus users.
how it works - When you find subscription resources from off-campus through the HCC Library Homepage, you will be prompted to enter your HCC Library barcode (username) and password (last name). Once you have logged in, you will be able to use library subscription resources freely - as though you were on campus.
How to Get Research Assistance
When you need help in any aspect of your research, there are many services and resources available by using the HCC Library Homepage. For additional MnPALS instructions use the MnPALS Guide.
reference service - The library staff is available to assist students with their research, access to materials, and help in locating resources. There are two ways to contact the library staff - 1-800-224-4422 ext. 6747 or 1-218-262-6747.
resources - Subscription databases are listed on the HCC Library Homepage. Other library catalogs are accessible via the HCC Library Homepage. Using the Trusted Websites link, enables you to link directly to other authoritative web sources for information.
