Ebony Gray and Christina Wickingson on being named MCAC Northern Division players of the week. Christina was named Setter of the Week in the Northern Division. She directed the Cardinals offense handing out 39 assists (9.75) in a conference win vs. Mesabi Range that clinched a post-season playoff spot for the Cardinals. Christina also had 4 digs, 2 kills and 2 blocks in the game. She is a sophomore from Mason, WI.
Ebony was named Hitter of the Week for the third week in a row for the Northern Division. She led the Cardinals to a 3-1 win over Mesabi Range with 18 kills (4.5) while hitting .340. Gray also had 6 digs, one block and one ace in the match. She is a freshman from Hibbing, MN.
Ebony Gray was named MCAC Northern Division Hitter of the Week for the second week in a row. Ebony continued her strong play at the net finishing the week with 48 kills (6.0) and a .444 attack %. Ebony added 22 digs (2.75) and 3 blocks on the week. She is a freshman from Hibbing, MN.
Ebony Gray was named MCAC Northern Division Hitter of the Week. Ebony recorded kills on her first 17 swings of the match during a 3-0 division win vs. Vermilion. Gray had 22 kills (7.33) with only one attack error while hitting .807 for the contest. She is a freshman from Hibbing, MN.
Christina Wickingson was named MCAC Northern Division Setter of the Week. Christina had 147 assists (8.16) and 41 digs (2.27) as Hibbing won 3 of 5 matches this past week. Wickingson also had 6 aces, including four in a 3-1 win over St. Cloud. Christina is a sophomore from Mason, WI.
Christina Wickingson was named MCAC Northern Division Setter of the Week. Christina increased her season assist total to 405 with 105 during the past week where the Cardinals went 2-1. Wickingson added 16 digs, 5 aces, 3 blocks and 3 kills. She is a sophomore from Mason, WI.
Kirstin Lahti and DeAnn Bjerklie for being named to the MCAC All-Northern Division 2nd team in Softball. Lahti is a center fielder and Bjerklie played third base and pitcher for the Cardinals. Both ladies are freshmen from Cherry High School.
Berkley Coombe was named MCAC Northern Division Pitcher of the week in baseball. Berkley pitched a complete game victory on Sunday against Fond du Lac. He gave up 5 hits, walked 2 and struck out 10 in his first game for the Cardinals. Berkley is a freshman from Hibbing, MN.
The following student athletes were named to the MCAC All-Academic team for fall semester 2013.
Laura Badavinac, Greenway HS / Cassidy Baron, Ellen Lescarbeau, and Gabby Sundquist, Chisholm HS / Christina Wickingson, Mason, WI / Courtney Wirtanen, Hibbing HS. All of these ladies are members of the HCC volleyball team. Great job!
More post season awards for the Cardinals. On the women's side both Christina Wickingson and Taylor Martin were named to the All-MCAC women's basketball team. Christina averaged 10.5 ppg, 4.1 apg and 2.3 stpg. Taylor averaged 14 ppg and 9.6 rpg while shooting 43% from the floor. On the men's side Jerry Pratt and Sam Willis were named to the All-North Division MCAC team and Pratt was also named to the All-MCAC team. The All-MCAC team consists of players from both the north and south divisions of the MCAC. Jerry had 17.7 ppg and 9.5 rpg and shot 59% from the floor for the season. Sam scored at a 17 ppg pace and also added 2.4 steals per game.
Jerry Pratt and Sam Willis were named MCAC Northern Division co-players of the week. They led the Cardinals to a pair of key division wins averaging 22 and 22.5 ppg respectively. Pratt sank 19 of 26 FGA (73%) while Willis nailed 6 of 8 3FGA (75%) and 11 of 13 FTA (85%). Both are sophomores from Minneapolis, MN.
Christina Wickingson and Taylor Martin were both named to the All-MCAC 2nd team and the MCAC Northern Division All-Conference 2nd team in women's basketball. Wickingson is a freshman from Mason, WI and Martin is a freshman from Alden, MN.
Taylor Martin was named MCAC Northern Division player of the week in women's basketball. Taylor led the Cardinals with 25 ppg and 15.5 rpg including a 29 pt. 21reb. effort in a hard fought loss to Vermilion this past week. Martin made 21 of 29 FGA for the week. She is a freshman from Alden, MN.
Ashlyn Norman was named MCAC Northern Division player of the week in women's basketball. Ashlyn averaged 21 ppg and 12.5 rpg while shooting 49% from the field in two conference games this past week. She is a freshman from Hibbing, MN.
Jerry Pratt was named MCAC Northern Division player of the week in men's basketball. Jerry scored 101 points in 4 games this past week (25.2 ppg) and added 10 rpg for the Cardinals. Pratt shot 62% from the floor and added 34 points from the charity stripe. He is a sophomore from Minneapolis, MN.
Taylor Martin was named the MCAC Northern Division player of the week in women's basketball. Taylor averaged 10 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 2 spg in a pair of games this past week. She is a freshman from Alden, MN.
Courtney Wirtanen was named to the MCAC All North Division Volleyball Team for the 2013 season. She is a sophomore Libero from Hibbing, MN.
Courtney Wirtanen was named the MCAC Northern Division Libero of the week. Courtney recorded 39 digs, received at 91% and served 100% in a pair of games against nationally ranked opponents this past week. Courtney is a sophomore from Hibbing, MN.
Christina Wickingson was named the MCAC Northern Division Setter of the week. Christina averaged 9.66 assists/game for Hibbing with a high of 30 in a 3-0 win over Fond du Lac TCC this past week. She is a freshman from Mason, WI.
Courtney Wirtanen was named the MCAC Northern Division Libero of the week. Courtney recorded 66 digs and served 91% and had 3 kills in three matches this past week for the Cardinals.She is a sophomore from Hibbing, MN.
