How to Enroll

There are four steps to enrolling at Hibbing Community College: completing an Application, Assessment Testing, Registration and Orientation.

Application
Hibbing Community College provides access to education through our Open Enrollment Policy. Applying is the first step toward becoming a student at Hibbing Community College.

If you are still exploring your educational options, Request Information about Hibbing Community College.

Assessment Testing
To promote your success, we require that newly accepted students take Accuplacer assessment tests in math, reading and English before enrolling in credit courses to help determine your academic abilities. These tests do not affect admissions eligibility, unless you are a Post-Secondary Options (PSEO) student. The scores are used as a guide for the classes that will be a good fit for you based on your ability level.

Students complete Assessment Testing at HCC during a HCC Student Testing and Registration (STAR) Session.  Students have the opportunity to complete assessment testing at any Minnesota State College and University System. Scores should then be mailed (address below) or faxed (218-263-2992) to Hibbing Community College admissions.

Registration
In order to register for classes, students must attend a HCC Student Testing and Registration STAR Session.  Star Sessions help students prepare for their future success at HCC by informing future students about relevant college tools, policies, and procedures.

Future online students seeking a degree completely online should compete the online registration information and orientation included in their acceptance letter. For advising information, contact lisabestul@hibbing.edu

For students enrolling for Fall or Summer Semester, STAR sessions begin in late April and continue with sessions throughout the summer until classes begin. For Students enrolling for Spring Semester, STAR sessions begin in mid-December and conclude prior to the start of spring classes. See STAR Session  for more information.

Orientation
New Students beginning classes fall semester are required to attend a Cardinal Kickoff Orientation Session prior to the start of classes. Students register for the session at the STAR Session they attend.
