Program Description
The Solar Photovoltaic Technician program will prepare students to take the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification of knowledge test. This training and certification will provide the opportunity for students to have the supervised entry level skills to install solar energy equipment with a solar dealer/installer or other solar industry company.
Employment Opportunities
Gainful employment programs are those “that prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation.” Public institutions are required to report this information for all undergraduate and graduate programs that are Title IV eligible and that lead to certificates, diplomas, graduate certificates or specialist awards. Reporting is not required for undergraduate certificates and diplomas less than 16 credits and graduate certificates and specialist awards that are less than 8 credits. Degree programs at all levels are not considered to be gainful employment programs.

Admission Requirements
No prerequisites. Credit may be given for electrical experience and related training. Instructor approval required.

HCC's Renewable Energy Production
Click on the following link to check out HCC’s Renewable Energy Production website. You will be brought to a site unique to HCC and shows one of the small solar PV arrays on campus. The site allows users to see current, daily, monthly, yearly, and lifetime production of the entire array and each individual solar module (panel). It also shows the physical layout of the array.
The array is made up 8 modules and 5 Enphase micro-inverters. There is 6 REC, 215W modules made in Sweden (the bottom 6) and 2 Solarworld, 175w modules made in the USA (top 2).
